Is beauty truth? (Or truth beauty?)

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 18, 2008:
Not in any universal sense of truth, if there is such a thing. How can beauty be truth when it is entirely subjective, a matter of judgment? What one person finds beautiful the next may find repulsive, and vice versa. But if you mean it in a subjective sense then yes, I can see that beauty might be truth and truth beauty.
What I find beautiful says a lot about my core values. And sooner or later the truth of what I really believe (not, what I think/say I believe) will out, in one way or another. It's that mirror thing again...
