Being with what is

Posted on Feb 17th, 2008 by rudyan : quasar rudyan

This morning I was in such an exalted mood, but now, at dinner-time, I’m feeling a bit on edge. I catch myself trying to explain it – oh, I waited too long to eat, blah blah blah – rather than just observing the changing landscape (mood), and letting be what is. Oh.

Being with what is means no looking for silver linings.

Being with what is means no trying to re-create what once was.

Being with what is means no trying to look around corners to see what will or may be.

Being with what is means being with what is!

Back along  I went through a “What brings me joy” quest.  I spent many days reflecting on not what made me happy, but things that brought me joy.   Simple things like stomping my feet in a mud puddle as a child.  Now on days I have the grump and it rains…off I go barefoot and proud.

Thanks for sharing this Ruth. I enjoyed it. Be happy where you are. Be happy with what is.
Thanks Phil also, for what you wrote. The simple things. That's where life is.

Phil, Michelle, thanks for commenting.

Phil, not too many mud puddles where I live, but I do love to go for walks on the beach, rain or shine. And I remember the joy of stomping through mud puddles when I was a child. Thanks for the reminder.

And I find joy also in simply allowing feelings as they arise, giving them permission to be. Gaia had a recent (Jan. 20th)  q&r: “What would make you feel better right now?” to which I responded:

Immersed in the Now
I'm feeling what I'm feeling—
That itself is bliss!

And that's something, coming from someone with a lifelong 'habit' of not allowing herself to feel.

Beautiful. That's so true. It's in the Now where the true bliss is. I'm so glad to hear you've realized that and are experiencing it.
Peace,
Shell

Well you know, Sandra, I expect that if you were supposed to read it you read it at the exact right time. That comes out of never being able to see or hear 'should' anymore without the 'Is that true?' response of Byron Katie.

But when I read your comment, my immediate thought was, Oh yeah, I maybe should have been rereading that myself the last couple of days… :)
